Vast Journey is a personal growth app designed to help people face challenges, overcome obstacles, and move forward with purpose. The problem: People often struggle to turn personal challenges into clear, manageable steps and stay motivated along the way. What I delivered: • Challenge-first mobile UX for identifying and overcoming obstacles • Personalized quests and actionable journey steps • Power-ups and rewards to encourage progress • Community and ally features for support and collaboration • Personalized media recommendations and journaling • Progress tracking focused on skills, character traits, and personal growth

The Challenge

VAST Journey helps users turn difficult life challenges into manageable steps. The challenge was creating a structured experience that keeps users focused, supported, and motivated throughout their journey. Core issues: • Challenges can feel overwhelming • Users need clear, achievable steps • Progress and setbacks need reflection • Support from trusted allies can be valuable • Resources should be personalized to each journey Why it mattered: Users needed a simple, engaging way to break down challenges, take action, and see their personal growth over time.

Vast Journey is designed around four core experiences that guide users through the complete challenge journey: Challenge discovery Explore personal challenges, identify obstacles, and choose quests that match your goals and current situation. Journey progress Break challenges into achievable steps, track progress, and celebrate milestones as you move forward. Personal growth Build character traits and skills through completed quests, reflections, and real-world experiences. Support & reflection Use personalized media, journal entries, power-ups, and collaboration with allies to stay motivated and learn from each experience. Key design decisions: • Clear journey-based navigation keeps users focused on their next meaningful step • Progress visuals make personal growth tangible and motivating • Personalized recommendations and reflections create a more relevant experience • Simple quest interactions reduce friction and make taking action feel achievable

What I Did

I worked on Vast Journey as the Lead UI/UX Designer, leading the product design process from concept to high-fidelity screens while collaborating closely with stakeholders and the development team. My contributions: • Led the overall UX and visual design direction of the product • Designed the challenge discovery and quest flow to help users move from identifying a challenge to taking action • Created the journey experience around clear steps, obstacles, milestones, and progress • Developed the visual system for quests, power-ups, allies, and character traits • Attended regular project and stakeholder meetings to discuss requirements, feedback, and design decisions • Worked closely with developers to explain designs, review implementation, and ensure the final product matched the intended experience Impact: Made personal challenges easier to navigate through clear journeys, while close collaboration with stakeholders and developers ensured a consistent experience.
